Mt. Sanlian is located on the south side of Mt. Gongga onits southeast ridge. Its north is Mt. Chushan, Mt. Longshan. All these three peaks are located on the southeast ridge of Mt. Gongga. Mt. Sanlian is 6368 meters above sea level and is a main view of Hailuogou glacier park.
Sanlian means three consecutive peaks, indicating the mountain has three high points. From east often people think the highest peak is the one in the middle while acctually the highest point is the one by the north. The middle peak of Sanlian is 6350 meters above sea level. Altitude The southern peak of Sanlian is at 6250 meters. The southern peak was first summited by a Polish climbing team in 2015.
The mountain has been climbed from its east side via Hailuogou. Mt. Sanlian can also be accessed from its south side, which has no recorded attempt up til 2020.
