The approach can either be from its east or its west. Former expeditions (in 2016 and 2017) were both conducted from its west side from a place called Batang, a small Tibetan town that is 3-day drive away from Chengdu and from Batang another 2-hour drive over the pass that is 5000-meter high and drop down to the village of Gemu. From the village to where the trail disappears is another 4-5 hours of walking by foot.
The east side takes long approach by foot via Retti Valley for around 15km.
