Bala Gezong is a cluster of mountains located on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan Province. The highest mountain is also called Bala Gezong at 5545 meters. It is a holy mountain in local culture. This mountain is more visible from Yunnan Province rather than from Sichuan side. Bala Gezong is also called Gezong Bensong or Gezong Snow Mountains, due to its top is usually covered with snow for a big part of the year. The base of the mountain is at around 2000m so the difference is at 3500m. It has a complicated and changing weather.
South of the mountain is a tourist park called Bala Gezong Gorge.
